Rites of Passage: Bay of Islands, New Zealand

What to Expect

A pause from life as you step into your own becoming. Releasing what was and stepping into the new. Our Rites of Passage is designed to help you transition with ease and expansion while being held in the beautiful Bay of Islands, New Zealand.

❋ Intentional Structure

We blend guided moments, open exploration, and space to reflect so the experience feels both focused and fluid.

❋ Collaborative Energy

Connection is a core part of the process. You’ll learn just as much from the group as from the content itself.

❋ Expert Facilitation

Led by founder, Cleo Shortland, who partners with you to create a magical space, and a journey moving in purpose.

❋ A Supportive Space

Our rites of passage prioritise comfort, sovereignty, and reverence, so you can show up as you are and fully immerse in the process.

Moko Kauae, The Right of Passage of Cultural Identity for a Wahine Māori

Candy Black stood at Mangatu marae and saw another woman wearing a moko kauae. She wondered, why was she allowed this? That question began a journey that would take years to answer.

This is the story of my Aunty, her calling, her formal study of te reo Māori and tikanga, the tohu she received at the urupa, and the rite of passage ceremony that marked the moment she stepped fully into who she had always been.

Such a privilege to have been part of Aunty’s moment.
